You Sure You Want To... To Hire Your Own  Bookkeeper?

Think carefully now,… when you know you can contract in the best team of bookkeeping experts ever outsourced, are you quite positive your business is such that you really need to hire your own?

Okay then. Let’s make sure you do it right.

if you aren’t using a recruiter, you’re going to need to know WHERE to advertise for your in-house bookkeeping position and WHAT qualifications and expertise you are looking for in your new team member.

Be specific and thorough.

I recommend you hire a professional wordsmith to create the most effective ad which ultimately saves time and money as well.

Read all the resumes, and make a select short list of the candidates you wish to interview.

To eliminate the unsuitable, send your short listed choices the link to a brief 5 question online test. It stands to reason that it wouldn’t be worth interviewing anyone who cannot or will not follow your instructions on how to complete the quiz.

Contact the candidates still in the running and schedule them to come into your office to write another test, this one measuring their bookkeeping skills.

Requesting to see them in person not only gives you the opportunity to see how they present themselves, but also to record how long it takes to write this next crucial exam which is usually aced by a great bookkeeper whereas someone with just simple office experience and some minor bookkeeping knowledge …not so much.

The next step would be to organize interviews with the lucky candidates who are successful and 2 -3 days after those, schedule a final round of meetings with your select remaining few.
