Jocelyn Villoso completed her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in the Philippines in 1992 and earned her CPA designation in 1993. Job stability and her flair for numbers attracted her to the profession.
In 2012, Jocelyn moved to Canada and lived by herself in Slave Lake. She kept busy not only with work but as a community volunteer until her family was able to join her four years later. When asked how she was enjoying life in Alberta, she replied, “Well, the winters are still a bit hard.”
In her previous position, Jocelyn focused much of her time on auditing, so she welcomed the change at Preferred Client Services to work the files from the very beginning. A keen, lifelong learner, she has also been taking payroll courses to add to her skill set. “Even though numbers are the same everywhere, the payroll system in Canada is different from the Philippines. “
Always focused on meeting company deadlines, Jocelyn lights up when she receives praise for a job well done. “When your boss or a client commends you, you try even harder to give it your all to do the best job possible.”
It’s a busy life at home, too. Jocelyn balances her time between family, her studies and work research for her job. Her two teenagers keep her occupied attending soccer games and community activities.
